Only those who fulfill
the following conditions will be considered
for the award of the Stepping Stone Scholarships. |

- Consistent academic excellence.
At public examinations such as Class
X and Class XII, a minimum score of
80 to 85% is expected. At other levels,
applicants should be in the top ten
percent of those who passed the same
examination. Only in truly exceptional
cases will this criterion be relaxed.
For the scholarship to be renewed, excellent
performance has to be maintained.
- Clear need for financial
support. It is not enough that
the student’s parents/guardians
are technically unemployed or their
declared annual income is below a certain
level. Manu Foundation’s local
associate who recommends the student
for the scholarship should be convinced
that the candidate genuinely needs external
financial support for continuing studies
in a way that will match his or her
full potential. (Students who have merit
scholarships from educational institutions
or other agencies also may ask for Stepping
Stones Scholarships if those scholarships
do not cover essential living expenses.)
- A humane attitude to society.
During the selection process, a committee
will judge whether the student displays
compassion to those who are deprived.
The Foundation believes that its scholarships
should go to those who are interested
in the welfare of society and will contribute
to it.
